A week to remember in Durdle Door

Created by Daniel 3 years ago

I have many fond memories of Alison which have replayed in my mind over the last fortnight, particularly from the week we spent in Durdle Door with Jack and Ella. We stayed in a well appointed mobile home which fortunately remained securely fixed in one spot throughout the holiday, as we were not a million miles away from the cliff edge.

Every day was full of laughter, sunshine, fresh air and long walks along the Jurassic coastline as well as more leisurely trips to the beach. It was there that Alison put us all to shame by striding straight into the sea while the rest of us, (OK it was just me), were gingerly dipping our toes into the icy waters in the hope of becoming acclimatised sometime before sundown. Clearly Alison had a certain amount of mermaid in her DNA.

On those endlessly sunny days I saw first hand what a great Mum Alison was to Jack and Ella, making them her priority and ensuring it was a holiday to remember for all of us. I'm glad to have that memory to cherish and share, though I can still barely believe she's gone. Wherever she is now I feel sure she's at peace and I know she'll always shine her light in our hearts whenever we think of her forevermore.
